How to get started with SurgeryWeb
Send us your details
Head over to our initial setup form where you can provide us with your Practice information and a few details about your current website, if applicable. You’ll then need to electronically sign the SurgeryWeb agreement, this is a £250 a year, 2 years minimum contract. This gets you all features for your site, from online prescriptions, appointments and patient details through to SSL certification, mailing lists and backups. Check here for all of our features you will get.
Migrating content
Once you give us the go-ahead with the electronically signed contract we’ll set up your new website and start to migrate all your existing website content onto your new website. This will be set up on what’s called a staging website (a website that isn’t live yet but serves the purpose of getting everything ready to go live). Within 48 hours we’ll have all your content onto the staging site.
Customisation
Once we’ve migrated all content from your current site, we’ll send you your login details for the staging site and you’ll have the ability to customise your new website with your logo, brand colours and optional features available to patients. These features include setting up patient surveys, participation groups, uploading your leaflet and so on. View more details on our features here. Take as long as you need to customise your new site, as soon as you’re happy with it then SurgeryWeb will get it live.
Getting your website live
Once you’re all done and ready to go live, SurgeryWeb will provide you with the details needed to put your new site onto your domain. Please note, this does not affect any SEO or Google Business Listing as we ensure all content and backend tracking is kept in the migration. Depending on the current provider response time you should be live 24 hours after this. When we say it only takes a couple days for your new website, we mean it.
If you have any questions regarding our Website theme or how you can get started, don’t hesitate to get in touch today, we’ll respond within one working day. Below, you’ll find some frequently asked questions.
How much are your websites?
SurgeryWeb charge £250 per year, minimum term of 2 years. Your term starts on your go live date so you’re not paying for the time taken to set your new website up.
How long does it take to set up the new website?
From the point of us receiving the ‘Initial setup form’ and SurgeryWeb agreement submissions via e-mail, we aim to have the new Practice website ready within 48 hours. You will then have a period of up to two weeks to get creative, customise your website and add any additional content. Finally when you’re ready to go live and have contacted either your previous supplier or NHS Digital (depending on your domain name), we can have you online within hours of receiving confirmation that they have transferred the name to SurgeryWeb (but any delay at this stage is out of our hands as we will be waiting for action from the previous supplier).
Can I keep the same domain name?
Of course, if your domain name ends with .co.uk, .org.uk, .com etc then it will be controlled by your existing provider and when you are ready to go live we will provide you with details for requesting that they transfer your name to SurgeryWeb. However if your domain name ends with .nhs.uk then it is owned and administered by NHS Digital, they can point your domain name to the SurgeryWeb servers but will always retain ownership of your name.
Do you offer support?
Yes, in several ways. We have our new extensive support section which covers every aspect of the website’s dashboard. We are also available via e-mail at any time of the day with excellent response times, the email address is contact@surgeryweb.org.uk. In the near future we will be hosting regular webinars which are not only demonstrations for Practices interested in signing up to SurgeryWeb but would also be very useful for existing Practices to watch and learn about using various modules in the dashboard.
Do I have access to customise the site after it is live?
Yes, you’ll have login details from the moment your new website is set up and these remain the same once you have gone live allowing you to continually change and adapt elements of your website. Try out our free demo to get a better understanding of how you can edit your website.
What Content Management System does SurgeryWeb use?
SurgeryWeb uses WordPress as its CMS. WordPress currently powers 35% of the websites on the internet and is the number one choice for web developers due to its adaptability and simplicity. WordPress offers many layers of security, various backup options and SurgeryWeb have heavily customised the dashboard so Practices are only presented with settings that are required, stripping out anything that is not.
